Bienvenue on the southwestern French countryside.
When was the last time you had a moment to breathe?
Strengthening Pilates and soothing stretching. Having time to think about the importance of every day life. Getting a good night's sleep, tranquillity of the countryside, beautiful flavors from the garden, flowers in bloom, country fairs, feeling the heat of the Finnish sauna barrel. That's what this experience is all about.
Are you packing already?
What does this experience entail..?
THE CLASSES & OTHER ACTIVITIES
Once everyone has arrived to The Happy Hamlet it´s time forget about tight schedules and a busy mindset. We will start with some relaxing and soothing stretches to help the body to recover from a day of travelling.
It´s time to relax.
During the week we begin our mornings with a strengthening Pilates class and end the day with a deep relaxing stretching class. Some days vice versa. We will go through the basics of Pilates training and Janica will write a personal Pilates training program for all the individuals after the retreat. She will have a one on one session with each client to discuss the right exercises. It makes no difference if you have strong back round in this style or if you have never even heard about this way of training, Janica has been an instructor for over 20 years so you will be in safe hands. After The Pilates Experience you will feel much more at ease, less tense and happier. This is what you needed.
After a class, you may dip into the natural swimming pool (no chlorite nor other chemicals!) or relax in the sauna. Or maybe just steal a moment for yourself and your book, curl up in a hammock tucked away under the trees. If you wish to still get more active physically, the surroundings are perfect for jogging, hiking, cycling, swimming, or even horse-riding can be arranged. In your spare time you can also engage in a game of badminton or ping-pong, and we need to add, that “the Hamlet Hike” around the property with Nicolas has been very popular – just don’t wear your high heels!
Our program is based on a “go with the flow” mentality, this is your vacation, after all! You may participate in our little visits in the region – but it’s completely fine if you wish to stay “home” in the Hamlet. We’ll visit a charming medieval village on an evening dinner market, we’ll go treasure hunting to a local “brocante” and since in France, we’ll definitely do some wine-tasting at our friends’ vineyard. Departure day morning, if your travel plans allow, we’ll pick up the freshest from the nearby farmers’ market and enjoy a champagne brunch before the “au revoirs”. That is, “until we meet again” – because we think you might want to return..
Ps. Have a look at the lovely reviews of our previous retreat guests!
An instructor who listens and inspires.
Janica explains that anyone can do Pilates. She gives plenty of options for all the exercises, so no one feels left out. Her extensive career was started off by attending dance lessons and soon she wanted to expand her career and become a dance instructor, Pilates instructor and a sports massage therapist. She takes every client as an individual and helps them feel at ease. Her heart warming and positive out look on life reflexes in her work. She teaches regularly abroad and is based in the United Kingdom where she has weekly classes, workshops and wellness weekends.
“I enjoy every single moment in life. It´s truly amazing how positive thinking can change your outlook on life. Being very ambitious I thrive to help my client to achieve a healthy, happy lifestyle with Pilates training and over all well being. When my clients succeed, I succeed.” -Janica
Feedback from a client: Janica is a wonderful instructor! Her technical knowledge and passion shine through in each of her classes. She cares and takes the time to know each one of her students and their specific needs. Her classes are fun and inclusive. She also provides different versions of the exercises to allow her students to benefit from a bespoke experience. Thank you very much for such a lovely retreat.
Sweet dreams guaranteed...
YOUR HOME FOR THE STAY
You will stay in the Guest House of The Happy Hamlet, which centuries ago was home for several families and now has been turned into a place for feeling good. The charming rooms (double, twin or triple) have each an ensuite bathroom with a window. The house has been renovated by preserving as much of the old as possible, yet keeping the comfort in mind. Many recycled treasures have been given new life allowing them to tell you their stories from the past.
The huge barn will be your lounge, salon and kitchen whenever you wish, and the vast property offers woods and prairies, fields and valleys for you to explore. You are welcome to enjoy the organic produce from the garden whenever you feel like having a healthy snack. With the sessions and discussions, other activities and visits you will surely have plenty to do, to explore and to experience – but you will certainly have your free time, too. Nothing beats the hammock under the trees for good relaxation!
At night, once in bed, you’ll be guaranteed a good night’s sleep because the only background noise will be the owl informing that everything is.. just fine.
See gallery in the bottom of the page or visit directly here for more photos of The Happy Hamlet property, the Guest House & rooms, the barn, the outdoors and more. In France they say "Bon Appétit". And they mean it, literally.
HEALTHY FOOD FROM THE GARDEN
Meals are prepared by a professional chef with own organic produce combined with the offering from the local farmers. The region’s wine selection is impressive, and you will be able to taste and find your favorites both during the meals as well as the visits to the vineyards. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and all drinks are included. You’re really meant to feel “at home”, which means that you’re welcome to enjoy anything from the garden or kitchen whenever you feel like a healthy snack – or have a glass of wine by the pool if that’s what would make you happy right there and right then.
You can join the “Hamleters” and visit one of the daily markets to hand-pick all the fresh goodies for a pique-nique. One evening will be dedicated for a long dinner at the evening dinner market, where we will be able to taste local specialties under the stars with the fellow-villagers. Bon appétit indeed!
And when we say local, we mean local – check out the “foodie map“ of the surrounding producers.
