The Rules

The only rule for the sauna should state: There are no rules!

It’s not exactly the whole truth, but the most important thing is that you do whatever and however is best for you. Some stay in 5 minutes and go out for half an hour, some stay in half an hour and cool off for a few minutes.

Every time in the sauna is different for everyone, and every person is different. So remember to listen to yourself, because the most important rule or rule #1 says “feel good”. Take your time, relax – both inside and outside 🙂

Other “good to know” stuff:

When can You go?

If you have taken a sauna (not speaking to the Finns here), it may well have been an electric one. If so, trust us, it has nothing to do with ours. Our is a wood burn and cannot be compared. Not mentioning the views..

But, as it needs some time to prepare, please consider giving us enough time to heat it up for you. Depending on the season it’ll take 30-45 minutes from the first spark.

What to Wear?

Highly recommended: go nude. This may feel awkward for some, and it’s ok too (back to rule #1!). If so, then consider wrapping a bath towel around you instead of a bathing suit (the heat and humidity will not do any good for the tissue).

Towels

There are sauna (and pool) towels provided in the entrance hall of the Guest House. These 100% cotton responsibly manufactured Turkish natural towels are super absorbent and they dry quickly, hence handy for your outdoor needs.

Löyly

Löyly is a special “sauna word” (much more than just a word, actually!). In Finnish it means the combination of the sound, the heat, the humidity, the smell… Everything that comes along throwing water on the hot stones. Saunas are often rated by their “löyly”, and we are proud of having a really really good one. So please do enjoy!!

If taking sauna with someone else, please ask always before throwing any water on the stones (this reads as being polite).

Water

A very important thing: Drink water! There is all you need at the sauna: a pitcher, cups and running water. Cheers!

Spa

We prepare homemade goodies (foot spa, body scrub, face mask) to enjoy at the sauna. Please ask us before going we’ll give you some with you.

Shower

There is a shower by the sauna. Depending on the season it can be very cold, very hot, or something in between. So try out first with your hand before heading under it!

We wish you a pleasant and safe stay in the Hamlet!
